Feeding Our Hearts

as we come together in fellowship and fun

  • Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

    February 21, 2023 5:30PM

Hosted by a Carnivale Float load of men from the parish, this is one of the highlights of our winter season.

According to CNN, the tradition dates back to 600 A.D., when Pope St. Gregory prohibited Christians from eating all forms of meat and animal products, including dairy, during the 40 days of Lent. Christians abided by the rule and made pancakes on Shrove Tuesday in order to use up their supply of butter, milk, and eggs before Ash Wednesday.

  • Taize

    6PM, Thursdays 3/2, 3/16, 3/30 2023

This is a lovely service - a perfect way to set the tone in Lent. A Taizé worship service involves sung and chanted prayers, meditation, a period of silence, liturgical readings, and icons. There is no preaching. The style of prayer practiced at Taizé has attracted many worshipers from around the globe and from many different denominations.

  • Parish Picnic

    September 10, 2023

When we return from our summer hijinks, we hold a special gathering in the Courtyard to catch up, reconnect, and eat plenty of delicious food. This is a great opportunity to get to know the warm community of Christ Cathedral in an informal setting. And there are bubbles.

  • Pet Blessing

    October 8, 2023 2PM

The Christ Cathedral community LOVES its fur family. In recognition of the Feast of St. Francis, we hold a pet blessing outside in the afternoon. Each pet gets a blessing, a treat, and a St Francis medal. Pets who are unable to attend for any reason can be blessed “by photo.” If you would like for the clergy to come to your home to bless your animal - like if it is a Bison - please just let us know.

  • All Saints Celebration

    October 29, 2023

We spend the month of October preparing for this wonderful commemoration. We write the names of loved ones who have gone to glory - whether they are in our family or not- whether it was last year or many years hence- and yes, even pets - on these cards. We bless and pray for these loved one and ask them to pray for us.

This is a lovely service, worth a visit on this important day.

  • Kirking of the Tartans

    Thursday, November 30, 2023

This is the return of a long-standing tradition at Christ Cathedral. Events include a party, playing pipes and drums outdoors, a guest speaker, a “Blessing of the Tartans,” and a large procession involving flags, Scottish banners, pipes and drums.

After worship, a supper is held which includes music, as well as a Knobbiest Knees contest. We also have a contest to elect someone to receive a Parish kilt to be worn for the first time at next year's Kirkin'.

  • Greening of the Church

    November 26, 2023

The hanging of the greens is a Western Christian ceremony in which we adorn our church with Advent and Christmas decorations. This is done on or directly before the start of the Advent season, in preparation for Christmastide. The service involves the placement of evergreen vegetation in the parish. In Christianity, items such as the evergreen wreath carry the religious symbolism of everlasting life, a theological concept within that faith.

  • Blue Christmas

    December 3, 2023 6:30PM

For those of us for whom the holidays can be a challenge… this is an evening of peace, a service of consolation and a gathering of those who share these burdens.

    Please join us.
