Royce Young has served at Christ Cathedral nearly four decades. He is presently Director of Music and Organist and has been instrumental in building the music program at the Cathedral. He designed the pipe organ, installed in 1977, oversaw the completion of the carillon in 1995 and the purchase of a new grand piano in 2012. He received a B.A. in Music Education from Wichita State University and a Master’s in Educational Administration from Kansas State University. Royce has taught music in both Salina Public Schools and St. John’s Military School. Mr. Young is past president of the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts, former Dean of the Salina Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and also former Vice President of the Salina Symphony Board. Royce as an organist and vocal instructor has appeared in concerts over the years in the United States and England.
